Hypecon Rules and Regulations

1 §

Hypecon is an alcohol-free event, and you may not bring alcohol or other intoxicants to the event. You cannot enter the event while intoxicated. Smoking in the event area is only allowed in specially marked places.

2 §

Stairs and other passageways must not be blocked. Emergency exit routes must be kept clear throughout the event. Sitting on stairways is prohibited. We recommend taking photos outdoors or in large spaces, taking photos on stairs and narrow corridors should be avoided. Parking vehicles in the courtyard during the event without a separate permit is prohibited. Parking in front of the gate leading to the courtyard is strictly prohibited.

3 §

Hairspray or strong perfumes may not be sprayed indoors, with the exception of changing rooms. This is essential, especially in toilets, as hairspray can cause very difficult symptoms for people with allergies.

4 §

Unrealistic weapon imitations and other props belonging to cosplay costumes can be carried into the event, but safety must be considered for these items. Imitations that mistakenly resemble genuine weapons are not permitted. Weapons must be clearly distinguishable as fake, for example by being obvious sci-fi weapons. In addition, participants must consider the reasonable transport of weapons to the site in proper bags. Deactivated firearms are strictly prohibited. Imitation swords etc. may also be brought to the event, but general safety must be considered when transporting and carrying them – sharp, heavy swords can cause injuries simply by being careless when walking indoors. Also, imitation swords must be easily recognizable as fake based on, for example, the materials.

Bringing airsoft guns into the event area is prohibited.

If you are not sure about the suitability of an item or prop that belongs to your costume, for example whether it resembles a real weapon, then present it in the info when you arrive at the event.

5 §

Persons who appear at the event in a clearly offensive and/or inappropriate cosplay outfit may be asked to change their outfit by the organizer of the event. If a person refuses to follow the event organizer’s call to change their clothes, this person can be removed from the event. This policy basically means very revealing/sexual outfits or outfits that are clearly offensive and against good taste.

We have also excluded military and war-themed cosplay costumes from our event, which resemble realistic clothing from war situations. The limitation applies to camouflage and military uniforms, military and combat accessories, combat equipment and/or their parts, as well as cosplaying games and series depicting realistic military equipment.

If you are not sure about the suitability of the objects or substances included in the props, or you have props with you at the event that mistakenly resemble a weapon, present it at the information desk at City Hall when you arrive at the event.

If you are unsure about the suitability of your outfit, you can ask in advance by e-mail jenni.lappalainen@hyvinkaa.fi or upon arrival, discuss the matter at the information desk.
